Nov.3- How do you find a reputable acupuncturist? What kind of credentials do you look for? Many patients interested in complementary therapies often ask these questions so here is some helpful advice to give. There are two types of practitioners that offer acupuncture:

• The American Association of Oriental Medicine represents licensed acupuncturists who have taken a 1,300-hour course in traditional Chinese medicine at one of the nation’s 34 nationally accredited schools of acupuncture or Oriental medicine. • The National Academy of Medical Acupuncture represents MDs who have completed a 200-hour course at UCLA that focuses on acupuncture but not the use of Chinese herbs. Call 800-521-2262 or e-mail KCKD71F@prodigy.com for a referral.
