DNR ORDERS

The Mass. Department of Public Health has begun the COMFORT CARE/DNR Order Verification Program. An out-of-hospital patient can request a bracelet that will inform EMS personnel not to take resuscitative measures and also to provide comfort/palliative care measures. Patients leaving the hospital with a DNR status should be provided with a COMFORT CARE packet that gives information on the program. This packet includes a form, which must be executed by the attending physician. The COMFORT CARE PACKETS are available through the CRC.
