ADDITIONAL $250 BENEFIT FOR SENIOR'S PRESCRIPTIONS

The Senior Pharmacy Program (SPP) is offering an additional $250 prescription drug benefit through June 30, 1998. This means that seniors enrolled in the program may receive up to $750/year for all Therapeutic Classes except those excluded from MassHealth. Insulin and disposable insulin syringes with needles are also included in the benefits. In the past prescription benefit were capped at $500. Here is what you need to know:

Ý Couples apply separately

Ý Medicare Part B premiums not counted as income

Ý Local housing authorities consider SPP benefit a deductible medical expense for the purpose of re-determining the rent of elderly tenants in state aided housing.


Costs to Participants:

  • Annual $15 enrollment fee that is deducted form the benefit
  • Co-payment amounts are $3 for generic drugs and some medical supplies. $10 for brand name drugs and certain medical supplies.
