DEPARTMENTAL CONSULTATION-UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS

The past two issues of the MGH Community News have tried to summarize the current changes in benefits eligibility for legal immigrants. The availability of benefits for undocumented aliens, however, remains very limited. One resource within our department is Sue Fitzgerald. From her work with dialysis patients, Sue has developed an expertise in advocacy for undocumented aliens who need medical care. She warns that options are very limited, but she is familiar with resources, can point us in the right direction and also offer support. Even if you know how to advise your client Sue is also interested in hearing your clients’ stories. These may be used for future advocacy efforts.
