CASH, PROPERTY, ASSETS & WELFARE BENEFITS

Imagine you were disabled in an accident and receive TAFDC or EAEDC because you can’t work. Finally, your personal injury award comes in. It’s enough to pay your debts and maybe even take a vacation with your family that has had to tighten up ever since the accident. But after the money is gone you know it will still be a while before your can recover enough from your injuries to work. If you will need Welfare Benefits for a while this is not the wisest plan. EAEDC and TAFDC have many restrictions on how court settlements and inheritances may be spent by recipients. Along the same line, when applying for TAFDC and EAEDC there are several restrictions on the sale and transfer of cash, property and assets. The Resource Wall in FH2 has two new pamphlets that talk about these very important issues.
