PROGRAM HIGHLIGHT: HOUSING ADVOCACY FOR PEOPLE WITH AIDS

Tri-City Community Action’s Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS (HOPWA) program provides free housing advocacy to low-income individuals and families with HIV/AIDS that are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.  HOPWA advocates assist individuals in locating housing and employment and accessing public benefits programs in Malden, Medford, Everett, Melrose, Wakefield and surrounding communities.

To be eligible for these services, individuals must have a diagnosis of HIV or AIDS, be homeless or at risk of becoming homeless due to high rent or loss of income, be low-come and reside in Massachusetts.  Referrals for eligible clients can be made by friends, families, social workers, doctors, case manager, or the individual themselves.  Walk-ins are welcome.

Tri- City Community Action Program (Tri-CAP) serves low-income individuals and families through programs such as fuel assistance, Head Start, early childhood teacher training, and pro bono legal services.  Tri- CAP is located at 110 Pleasant Street, Malden, MA.
