THE MAYOR'S HEALTH LINE
The Mayor's Health Line was developed by the Boston Committee on Health Care Access
to help Boston residents obtain access to the health care and health care information they need.
They are an Information & Referral service, fielding calls concerning where hospitals and health
centers are located in one's neighborhood, the location and availability of sites for breast cancer
screening and flu shots, information about public cash assistance and insurance programs, and
referrals to social service agencies and programs that provide meals, housing, transportation, etc.
The Mayor's Health Line provides direct service to uninsured or under-insured individuals and
families who need assistance with enrollment in public health insurance programs such as MassHealth,
Healthy Start, Free Care, or the Children's Medical Security Plan (CMSP). They will assist a caller
to identify appropriate programs, determine their eligibility, and complete an application.
Messages left on the Mayor's Health Line's voice mail service are intended to be returned within
24 hours. If the request is urgent, the CRC suggests calling again
if you do not reach a live person the first time.
All services provided by the Mayor's Heath Line are free and confidential. The phone lines are
open Monday through Friday, from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Brochures are available through the
CRC.
