Financial Assistance for Women with Breast Cancer
The Healing Hands program is a collaborative effort between the Healing Hands Foundation and the Brigham and Women's Hospital Office for Women, Family, and Community Programs. The program assists women with breast cancer to cover necessary services and treatment related to their breast cancer diagnosis. Eligible women may receive up to $1200 per calendar year to help defray the cost of Tamoxifen, breast prostheses and bras, wigs, compression sleeves, transportation and childcare related to treatment, counseling, and other breast cancer related expenses. Transportation assistance is usually temporary while an application for The Ride is being processed. Women who are Massachusetts residents, have breast cancer, and have an individual annual income of $25,000 or less or a total family annual income of $42,000 or less, regardless of immigration status, are eligible to apply.
Unfortunately, the program is now running a waiting list. Eligible women are encouraged to apply to obtain a spot on this list. Women should complete the Healing Hands Resource Request form and provide documentation of their income. This form is available from the website, http://www.healinghandsbreastcancer.org, by calling (617) 732-5759, or from the MGH Oncology Resource Specialists (referral line 617-726-7664). Please provide the name and contact information of a possible vendor who will provide the service.
This program is listed in IRis under the keywords: DayCare/Child, financial/medications, Healthcondition/cancer and Transportation/programs.
