On January 15 the legislature overrode Gov. Romney's veto of the supplemental budget item that would direct DMA to spend any excess funds in the MassHealth Essential account to provide MassHealth coverage to some of the special status elderly and disabled immigrants who lost coverage last summer. According to Pat Baker of Mass. Law Reform Institute, "there will be some major negotiations with the Romney Administration to make this victory a reality for these immigrants."
