PROGRAM HIGHLIGHT:
SPRINGHOUSE - BOSTON’S CONTINUING CARE RETIREMENT COMMUNITY
Springhouse, Boston’s only continuing care retirement community, is located in Jamaica Plain. They are located on 13 acres of conservation land with walking paths and wildlife.
Three Lifestyle Options Available:
- Woodside –apartments for active seniors,
- Ledgemont – assisted living suites with personalized services, and
- Allen House – specialized services for persons with memory loss (early to mid-stage).
All residents have priority access to admission to the nearby skilled nursing facility Sherrill House.
All programs have options for meals, linen and laundry service, and housekeeping. There is 24-hour building security and emergency response in place. Each program option has its own full-time activities staff person. Pets are allowed in apartments. Also, two times per year, a free hearing screening is offered where residents will receive an electronic hearing test and demonstration of hearing aide technology. If a person already wears a hearing aide, it will be cleaned and serviced.
Short-Term Respite Program
Springhouse’s respite program includes a private apartment with shower, 3 meals per day, weekly housekeeping and bed linen service, scheduled transportation, daily personal care and medication reminders, as well as activities. One month minimum stay is required.
There is currently a waitlist for Springhouse, however there are different styles of apartments and depending on an applicant’s flexibility, a person may be able to move to the top quickly.
