MANAGED RX PLANS, INC. – A MAIL ORDER PHARMACY

Managed Rx Plans, Inc., is a private mail order pharmacy that provides prescriptions to individuals with long term recurring medication needs. They accept most major medical insurance (with a 70% or better co-pay) as full payment. There are no membership fees and no costs to join. Managed Rx Plans cover the co-payment, fill the prescription, and then they bill the insurance company and wait for reimbursement. Prescriptions are delivered free of charge directly to participants usually within 24 hours. They also provide an automatic refill option and consultation with a pharmacist. Managed Rx Plans will administrate claims for participants. If needed, they will obtain required letters of medical necessity and file for reimbursement.

Cautions: It is likely that the consumer will receive the reimbursement check for medication from the insurer. It is the consumer’s responsibility to endorse the check over to Managed Rx Plans, otherwise they will not receive their refills and their case will be sent to a collection agency. Managed Rx Plans state that they inform the consumer of this possibility and follow up with the consumer if they do not receive the check. There is potential however for there to be billing disputes.

Managed Rx Plans has been in operation for about 10 years and the Better Business Bureau has only logged one complaint. The CRC would be interested in learning more about consumer’s experiences with this company (and other similar plans).
