The city of Boston’s Commission on Affairs of the Elderly is participating in a national effort to identify caregivers through their primary care physicians. “Making the Link: Connecting Caregivers with Services through Physicians” educates and encourages physicians to identify the caregivers among their patients and to refer them for needed services. The Commission can provide resources that may include the following:
- Caregiver Support Groups
- Information and Referral
- Adult Day Care Referral
- Respite resources, including reimbursement of up to $500 per fiscal year for certain eligible caregivers who are either caring for someone over age 60 or are grandparents raising grandchildren.
