AUTOMATIC FOOD STAMPS – PHASE TWO

At the end of October, the Department of Transitional Assistance and the Social Security Administration began the second phase of Bay State CAP (Combined Application Project), the program that automatically extends food stamp benefits to SSI recipients. 33,000 SSI recipients, mostly in “shared living” arrangements or homeless shelters, should have received an EBT Food Stamp card in the mail. If recipients use the card within 30 days of receipt, they will be certified for Bay State CAP for 36 months. If they do NOT use the card within 30 days, they will lose these food stamp benefits.
