CMS CONTRACTS WITH WELLPOINT FOR POINT OF SALE ENROLLMENT

As they did last year, CMS has contracted with WellPoint to provide the Point of Sale Facilitated Enrollment (POS FE) service in 2007. WellPoint will pay claims for dual eligibles without Part D enrollment. In cases where dual eligible status cannot be confirmed at the point of sale, the pharmacist may submit the claim to Wellpoint and provide the individual with a 31 day supply of the drug if the individual presents evidence of Medicaid eligibility and no Part D plan information can be found.
