SPECIAL ENROLLMENT PERIOD FOR LOW INCOME SUBSIDY (LIS)
A Special Enrollment Period (SEP) is a period of time during which an individual can enroll in, or switch plans outside their annual enrollment period. The SEP ends when an individual enrolls in a new Part D plan or when the SEP time frame ends, whichever comes first. Individuals may be eligible for SEP in certain situations.
- Individuals who had LIS prior to January 1, 2007 , and continue to qualify, will have one SEP in 2007 to enroll into or disenroll from a Part D plan. This SEP extends throughout 2007.
Individuals who qualified for LIS in 2006, but lose their LIS eligibility for 2007 as a result of LIS re-determination are eligible for the SEP that runs from January through March 31, 2007.
