PROGRAM HIGHLIGHT: COTTING SCHOOL'S HOPEHOUSE
HOPEhouse is a transitional residential program that supports up to eight young adults with physical and learning challenges to live independently. The program offers a newly-constructed residence in Lexington, adjacent to Cotting's children's day school for children with disabilities.
HOPEhouse offers 24-hour staffing, educational, vocational and clinical services, and many personalized services and programs specifically designed for residents needs and learning skills to foster independence, community and growth.
Eligibility
HOPEhouse is designed for young adults who have physical or learning challenges. Candidates must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be physically capable of successful program completion
- Have the potential to acquire greater social, vocational and independent living skills
- Have the desire to achieve greater levels of independence while living cooperatively with others
- Be willing and able to live in a drug, alcohol and smoke-free environment
- Be able to exit the building independently during day and night hours in the case of any emergency
