2008 HEALTH INSURANCE “AFFORDABILITY” RATES

The state has released the Massachusetts 2008 Affordability Schedule which lists the maximum amount considered “affordable” for insurance premiums. The schedule lists different amounts based on different income ranges and family types. Insurance rates vary based on factors including age and geography. If there are no plans offered for the individual (or couple or family) within the applicable affordability guideline, he/she will be exempt from the penalties associated with Massachusetts “Individual Mandate” that everyone carry health insurance.
