Programs Attempt To Fill Void Left By
The Wellness Community
The Wellness Community closed at the end of January 2009 as reported previously (MGH Community News, February 2009). Two distinct, but related, agencies are trying to help fill the void left by the agency that provided support for cancer patients and their loved ones in the Boston area for more than 15 years, offering educational workshops, exercise programs and other classes.
- Facing Cancer Together: A Community of Hope - is a non-profit organization serving people with cancer in the Greater Boston area. Formed by former Wellness Community clinicians they offer educational and support groups, meditation, yoga and expressive arts groups at donated space at the United Methodist Church .

Cancer Support Community-Massachusetts South Shore - TWC-mss is not a new organization; they have been offering services in Hanover MA for some time first as Pathways for Cancer Care, and then as a satellite of The Wellness Community-Greater Boston and more recently as the Cancer Support Community.
After the merger in 2009 of The Wellness Community National and Gilda’s Club Worldwide, a non-profit cancer support organization whose programs and philosophy mirrored The Wellness Community, the new organization became known as Cancer Support Community
