MRC Closes Homemaker Waitlist

 

The following was e-mailed to the department on 6/12/09.

The Mass Rehab Commission (MRC) announced on 6/3/09 that the waitlist for their Home Care Assistance Program for disabled adults under age 60 (homemaker services) is closed indefinitely due to budget cuts.  Those already receiving services will continue to receive them, but they are not taking new referrals. 

If the budget situation changes they may reopen the waitlist, but they expect the wait would still be significant.  MRC is referring applicants to their local Independent Living Center and has promised to provide the ILCs with some additional, though admittedly very limited, resources.
