International White Cane Day
Highlights Driving Law

October 15 is International White Cane Day. This celebration brings an opportunity to highlight the Massachusetts law that requires driver to yield to pedestrians using a white cane or guided by a guide dog. The law, (MGH Chapt. 90, Sec. 14A) also requires those who have an animal to “restrain and control such animal on a leash when in proximity to a guide dog that is on a public or private way.” Violators are subject to a fine of between $100 and $500.
