Open Enrollment for Commonwealth Care
Open enrollment for Commonwealth Care members is June 3 - 22.
How will Commonwealth Care members be notified?
- The Connector is mailing all members a customized enrollment packet at the end of May.
- The packet will include the new premium amount for the member's current plan, as of July 1, as well as the premium amounts for all of the other plans that are options for that member.
Are the plans changing?
- There are still 5 plans offering Commonwealth Care: NHP, Network Health, BMC HealthNet, Fallon, and CeltiCare.
- Members in Plan Type 1 (those with income below 100% Federal Poverty Level) continue to have no monthly premium.
- For all other Plan Types, CeltiCare is now the lowest cost plan across all geographic areas.
- For example, for Plan Type 3 members between 200% - 250% FPL, CeltiCare's premium is $77 compared with $107.93 for BMC, $104.78 for Network Health, and $109.57 for NHP.
- See chart below of premiums by geographic area and plan type (income level). This also shows the change in cost from the current year. https://www.mahealthconnector.org/portal/binary/com.epicentric.contentmanagement.servlet.ContentDeliveryServlet/About%2520Us/CommonwealthCare/CommCare10%2520Renewal/Enrollee%2520Contribution%2520Comparison09%2520vs%252010.pdf
What does this mean for our patients?
- Patients who want to remain in their current plan do not need to do anything.
- Patients who want to switch plans may do so during open enrollment by calling the Connector, mailing in a form from their open enrollment packet, or making their selection on-line. Changes go into effect on July 1.
- Reminder: Partners is contracted with NHP, Network Health, and CeltiCare, for Commonwealth Care, so for the most part, patients may be able to access care in our system on any of these plans.
