Haitian TPS Registration Deadline
Extended Six Months
On Monday July 12, the government immigration office, USCIS, announced that it would be extending the registration deadline for Haitians to apply for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) by six months. Haitians who were already in the country at the time of the earthquake now have until January 18, 2011 to apply for this status. This has been the only change to the Haitian TPS program since the administration designated Haiti for TPS on January 21, 2010. This TPS status is currently set to expire 18 months after the earthquake, or July 2011.
