Supplemental Budget
Funds Housing, Homelessness, and
Safety Net Programs
On January 4, 2011 Governor Patrick signed a $330 million supplemental budget for fiscal year 2011. The supplemental budget includes needed funds for the Emergency Assistance family shelter and services program, the Emergency Aid to the Elderly, Disabled and Children program (EAEDC), and the Massachusetts Rental Voucher Program. It also provides midyear funds for the MassHealth program, the Commonwealth Care Bridge health care program for immigrants, and a number of other line items.
Some specifics:
- $16 million for the Emergency Assistance family shelter, rehousing, and services program (Department of Housing and Community Development). This funding will allow DHCD to continue to serve an increasing number of families experiencing homelessness.
- $1.1 million for the Massachusetts Rental Voucher Program (Department of Housing and Community Development). This allocation partially restores funding vetoed from the account back in July.
- $4.3 million for the Emergency Aid to the Elderly, Disabled and Children program (Department of Transitional Assistance). This funding will allow DTA to continue to serve an increasing number of extremely low-income elders and people with disabilities in need of cash assistance.
