Depression and Diabetes – A Bad Combination

 

In the Nurses' Health Study, both conditions increased all-cause and cardiovascular mortality, and the combination was worse than either condition alone. Whether amelioration of depression directly improves cardiovascular risk factors is unknown, but it seems likely to enhance patients' active involvement in treatment of both diabetes and CVD.
