Program Highlight Comfort Zone Camp for
Families with Losses Due to Suicide

A previous version of this article was e-mailed to the Women’s and Children’s Team earlier in May.

Comfort Zone camp, in partnership with the Samaritans, is providing a special one-day camp for children and teens who have experienced the loss of a parent, sibling or primary caregiver to suicide.

This free, one-day camp will be very much like the Comfort Zone weekend bereavement program, except it is shorter and only for children and teens who live in the state of Massachusetts, and who have experienced the loss of a parent, sibling or primary caregiver to suicide.  For ages 7-17 (18 if still in high school).

A separate (optional) parent/guardian program will take place at the same place and location. Childcare can be provided for kids under age 7, with advance notice.

Date & Time: Saturday, June 25, 2011, 9:30am-4:00pm

Location: Shore Country Day School, 545 Cabot Street, Beverly MA 01915

Registration is required:   www.comfortzonecamp.org or https://www.comfortzonecamp.org/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=403

Mixed in with traditional camp fun and activities, the kids will create an art project, meet in healing circles (age-based support groups), share their story (if they choose), meet lots of other kids, receive validation from peers with similar experiences, and learn coping skills for their daily lives.

Also, for anyone interested in becoming a volunteer, visit www.comfortzonecamp.org.   The next Volunteer Training session is Saturday, June 4 th in Waltham MA.
