Caring Bridge is a nonprofit service offering free Web pages to keep friends and family in touch during important life events including medical treatment, rehabilitation, childbirth, adoption and end-of-life care. The patient or family requests a personal website and then can communicate with loved ones without having to repeat the same information multiple times and loved ones can leave messages of support that the family can access at their convenience.

Caring Bridge has grown steadily since its inception in 1997. They report that by the beginning of 2003 they had hosted more than 10,000 personalized pages, with more than 33 million visits, and more than 1.4 million guestbook entries.

Note: the CRC has received a couple of mentions of this service in the last month including testimonials from staff. Clearly there is a need for this type of service.
