BROCHURE FOR FAMILIES ABOUT MAKING LONG-TERM CARE DECISIONS

The AARP publication "Family Conversations That Help Parents Stay Independent", recommended by Barbara Moscowitz, MSW, is now available on the resource wall on FH2. This well written brochure answers some of the questions/dilemmas families often bring to us. How to begin a discussion, Dealing with Resistance, Holding a Family Meeting, Communicating Constructively and Constructive Parent/Adult Child Roles, are some of the section headings. This publication is full of tips about how to talk, and is careful to respect the rights of the elder and reframes the idea of role reversal into a more empowering model for all involved.
