Courts Now in IRis
All of the Massachusetts District courts and the Probate and Family courts have recently been added to IRis. The listings for the district courts include numbers for Victim Witness and Domestic Violence Advocates, as well as Juvenile Advocates if applicable, as the towns over which the court has jurisdiction. The Probate and Family Court listings include the counties in which the court has jurisdiction. District Courts hear a wide range of criminal, civil, housing, juvenile, mental health, and other types of cases. The Probate and Family Court has jurisdiction over family matters such as divorce, paternity, child support, custody, visitation, adoption, termination of parental rights, and abuse prevention. Probate matters include jurisdiction over wills, administrations, guardianships, conservatorships and change of name. District courts can be found in Iris under the keywords "Courts, District" or "Legal/District Courts." Probate and Family Courts can be found under the keywords "Courts, Probate" or "Legal/Probate and Family Courts."
