Summer Food Service Program
During the summer months, many low-income children are at greater risk of being hungry because they do not have access to free or reduced-priced school meals. Project Bread and the Massachusetts Department of Education's Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) provides the funds for community organizations to serve free, nutritious meals to low-income children when school is not in session. SFSP meals are often provided in conjunction with educational and recreational activities. For more information or to find a site, go to www.meals4kids.org/SFSP
Many sites offer free breakfast and lunch. Note that many programs close before the end of August, but there are at least a couple of programs in most areas that are open through the end of the month.
