Bed-hold protections for other than a medical leave, and MassHealth reimbursement were eliminated. A nursing home is no longer required to hold a bed for a resident covered by MassHealth and will not be reimbursed by MassHealth for such bed while the resident is on a non-medical leave. If the resident is hospitalized or out for other medical leave, the nursing home needs to hold his or her bed for 10 days but will not be reimbursed by MassHealth for that time.
