Contrary to what some applicants may be told, the Mass Department of Transitional Assistance’s regulations require them to provide interpreters. Though it helps to call ahead to make sure one with the appropriate language fluency is available for the appointment.
In some cases they are wrongly denying children DTA benefits when parents lack proof of immigration status. Undocumented parents should simply state that he or she is "ineligible" for the benefit and only applying for the child.
